Learn how Soda City Chiropractic was founded in Columbia, SC, and how Dr. Devin Carr’s background in athletics, teaching, and chiropractic shaped a patient-focused approach to movement, pain relief, and performance.

About Soda City Chiropractic
When I was 16 years old, I went to the doctor and was told that I would never run or walk normally again. As a very active athlete, that was difficult for me to accept. My parents brought me to a chiropractor, and about six months later I was back to running and being active again. Looking back, that was probably the first time the idea of Soda City Chiropractic began. To me, chiropractic represented hope for a better life filled with movement and the ability to keep doing the things that mattered to me.
It took me a while to officially begin my journey into chiropractic. I first became a science teacher, and those years reinforced how much I enjoyed helping people learn, improve, and reach their goals. My years in athletics and coaching also shaped the way I think about health and performance. I saw firsthand that movement, exercise, soft tissue work, and chiropractic adjustments could all play a role in helping someone feel and perform better. When I eventually entered chiropractic school, I knew I wanted my future practice to be built around helping people move better, reduce pain, and continue doing the things they enjoy.
When it came time to decide where to open a practice, I had to choose whether to return to Columbia, where I had spent so many years teaching and coaching, or start somewhere new. Columbia felt like home, so I decided to come back and build something here. The only problem was figuring out what to call it. While joking around with friends, someone suggested “Crack City Chiropractic.” Obviously that wasn't going to be the name but Columbia is Soda City, and the joke eventually led to Soda City Chiropractic. What started as an experience I had as a teenager eventually became a practice built around the same thing chiropractic gave me years ago: the opportunity to keep moving forward.

Who I work with
Low back pain

Low back pain can interfere with sitting, lifting, exercising, sleeping, and everyday movement. We evaluate the spine, pelvis, muscles, and movement patterns that may be contributing.
Sciatica

Pain, burning, numbness, or tingling into the buttock or leg may involve irritation of the sciatic nerve or related structures.
Sports Injuries
Auto Accident Injuries
Whether you're competing, training, or trying to stay active, we evaluate the joints, muscles, and movement patterns involved in your injury.
Neck, back, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal symptoms can develop after a collision—even when discomfort doesn't appear immediately.
Posture & Movement Problems
Sometimes nothing feels seriously injured—you simply feel stiff, restricted, uneven, or like your body isn't moving the way it should.

Neck Pain
Neck stiffness and pain can develop from injuries, posture, repetitive strain, joint restriction, muscle tension, and other mechanical problems.
My Approach to Chiropractic
The ultimate goal with chiropractic is to help you optimize performance to reach your goals.
Your care may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue work, corrective exercise, and light therapy depending on what is found during your examination. The goal is to determine what may be limiting movement, increasing pain, or affecting performance and build care around that individual patient.
